Copenhagen does not rule out a possible revision of the 1951 defense agreement with Washington, according to which the United States could build its military bases in Greenland. This was announced on January 27 by Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, who is currently in Berlin, in an interview with The New York Times (NYT) newspaper.

"She highly appreciated the 1951 treaty, but does not rule out the possibility of its revision in the framework of discussions that have been ongoing between Danish and American officials for several months," the article says.

In an interview with the publication, Mette added that the events of the past few weeks, during which conversations about the desire of the head of the White House, Donald Trump, to conquer the Danish semi-autonomous unit escalated, demonstrated the disappearance of the old world order.
