According to a plan developed by a new international organization called the Peace Council, US President Donald Trump will be given broad powers over the territory of Gaza. The New York Times (NYT) reported this with reference to the documents on January 27.

"Trump will have broad authority over the future management of the war—torn Gaza Strip. <...> The draft resolution <...> will allow the chairman, Mr. Trump, to appoint senior officials who will help manage Gaza," the material says.

It also emphasizes that the American leader will decide who exactly will take on such positions as the "high representative" for Gaza and the commander of the international stabilization force. If necessary, he will be able to suspend the activities of certain persons "in extreme cases."

It is noted that the text at the disposal of the publication was not signed by the head of the White House, and its latest version is dated last Thursday, January 22.

Washington, according to the Axios portal, sent invitations to a number of states to join the "Peace Council" on the Gaza Strip, which were subsequently rejected by most European states, who were alarmed that the new international organization would in the future sideline the UN as a platform for global settlement. conflicts. However, Azerbaijan, Argentina, Bahrain, Belarus, Hungary, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Israel, Morocco and Egypt have since agreed to the initiative to join the council.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced on January 19 that Russian President Vladimir Putin had received an invitation from the United States to the "Peace Council" on Gas. During the briefing, he added that the Russian side had begun a detailed study of this issue.
