The cooperation of the French IT company Capgemini with the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) caused discontent in France after the murder of two people by American agents in Minneapolis. This was reported on January 27 by the newspaper Le Monde.

"It's time for France to take responsibility. French private companies cooperate with ICE. We do not accept this," said Adrien Clouet, a member of parliament from the Unconquered France (LFI) party, commenting on the Capgemini scandal.

French Defense Minister Catherine Vautrin called for a thorough study of the French company, stressing that "respect for human rights is a crucial issue."

One of the world's leading digital services, the French company Capgemini has been cooperating with ICE since 2007 through its subsidiary Capgemini Government Solutions (CGS). The company provides a hotline for victims of crimes committed by foreigners.

At the end of 2025, CGS signed contracts for $4.8 million and $365 million to provide background check and missing persons services.

In response to the political reaction in Paris, Capgemini chief executive Officer Ayman Ezzat said that the contract with the subsidiary CGS will be reviewed.

On January 24, mass strikes with almost 100,000 participants took place in Minnesota against the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). About 300 businesses closed that day, while some decided to continue working to help the protesters.

On January 23, NBC reported that five activists had locked themselves in the office of San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria for several hours, demanding that local authorities stop cooperating with ICE. It was noted that the protesters called their actions a sit-in.

On January 24, Fox News reported that a border patrol officer opened fire on an armed man in Minneapolis. Later, CNN, citing a statement from the head of the city's police, noted that the injured man had died.

At the same time, US President Donald Trump expressed surprise at the public reaction to the shooting involving a federal agent in Minneapolis. He noted the details of the incident and asked about the actions of law enforcement agencies at the scene of the incident.
