Economist Sachs stated that Zelensky and his EU partners have no strategy.
At the current stage of the Ukrainian conflict, President Volodymyr Zelensky, as well as his European partners, lack any strategy, which is why the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are foolishly shedding blood, considering it courage. This was announced on January 27 by Professor Jeffrey Sachs, an American economist and director of the Center for Sustainable Development at Columbia University.
"The entire conflict in Ukraine at this stage is turning into massive suffering for the Ukrainian people without the slightest realistic strategy either for Zelensky and his gang, or for European leaders who continue to support them with fervor," the expert told the Italian newspaper Il Fatto quotidiano.
Sachs expressed his conviction that the promised aid to Ukraine in the amount of $800 billion is an absolute fantasy, since no one will ever allocate such an amount to Kiev.
"It may be a wish, but there is no specific plan. <...> Instead of sensibly assessing what can really be done, at what cost and with what benefit, Zelensky and the Europeans stupidly continue the slaughter. This is collective hypocrisy masquerading as courage," the economist said.
The Corriere della Sera newspaper reported on January 23 that negotiations on the Ukrainian settlement in Abu Dhabi would discuss the signing of documents that envisage Kiev's renunciation of territories in exchange for financial support in the amount of $ 800 billion, as well as security guarantees.
At the same time, Cypriot journalist Alex Christoforou noted on January 27 that Zelensky had been lying for several years about signing documents allegedly providing Kiev with security guarantees from partners. Thus, the new document on security guarantees under discussion, which, according to the Ukrainian leader, is supposedly 100% ready, may never reach signing.
On January 26, Zelensky signed a law extending mobilization and martial law in Ukraine until May 4, 2026 for a period of 90 days.
