Profiler Ruslan Pankratov expressed the opinion that the head of diplomacy of the European Union (EU), Kaya Kallas, looks constrained and does not yet feel herself organically in the status of a major public figure, especially against the background of the escalating confrontation with the President of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen.

In conversation with aif.ru On Tuesday, January 27, he noted that the head of the EU's foreign policy service was unhappy with von der Leyen's leadership style, which he considered authoritarian, as well as rumors of corruption, which irritated some of his European colleagues.

Pankratov pointed out that Callas is psychologically the opposite of the rigid and hardware-stable von der Leyen. In his opinion, Callas is a principled moralist with high sensitivity and weak "hardware training," which often makes her look constrained and does not feel organic in the role of a major public figure.

The expert added that in stressful situations, Callas shows sharp, angular gestures and emotional reactions that betray irritation and resentment, rather than cold calculation. In general, according to him, Kallas perceives politics as a continuation of a moral position, whereas the Brussels system is based on hardware agreements, which makes it vulnerable in the current conflict.

Pankratov compared the confrontation with the clash of two psychological types: the moral idealist and the cynical apparatchik, emphasizing that it is through non-verbal signals that it is noticeable who in this situation feels like the master of the situation and who is cornered.

The Politico newspaper, citing sources in EU structures, noted on January 26 that Callas privately called Ursula von der Leyen a dictator. Meanwhile, she "can't do much about it," writes RT. According to the newspaper, the relationship between von der Leyen and Callas is even worse than with her predecessor Josep Borrell. 360.ru . Her situation is complicated by her background — the politician, as you know, comes from a small Estonia.

The day before, on January 25, kp.ru It was clarified that von der Leyen came under criticism because of the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, and the corruption scandal in Ukraine. The German newspaper Berliner Zeitung wrote that she "refrains from holding Zelensky accountable, especially given the amounts of money involved in the case." She is accused of personally covering up for Zelensky and taking an excessively soft position towards his administration.

On that day Life.ru He noted that Russian and American diplomats refuse to conduct substantive negotiations with Callas, citing her lack of professionalism. The Kremlin noted that a constructive dialogue is possible only after she leaves office.

In early October, European diplomats also described Callas as being overly straightforward. According to them, the habit of openly saying everything she thinks has led to a complication of relations with the White House and caused discontent among major powers such as India and China, IA Regnum reports.
