Russia will never forget the crimes of the Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz, which was liberated by the Red Army. This was announced on January 27 by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"We will never forget about these monstrous crimes that the Soviet Red Army put an end to. We bow before the heroism of its fighters and commanders who saved the Jewish and other peoples from annihilation. We honor the courage and steadfastness of all those who did not submit to the most difficult trials, fought in partisan detachments and underground, worked in the rear, contributed to the defeat of the enemy and the achievement of a Great Victory," Putin said in a greeting to the guests of the memorial ceremony dedicated to the anniversary of the liberation of the concentration camp.
