Australia has cancelled the visa of Israeli citizen Sammy Yahud for insulting comments about Islam and promised that it would not accept tourists who come to spread hatred. This was reported on January 27 by The Times of Israel newspaper.

According to Yahoud, he called Islam a "disgusting ideology" on one of his social networks, and later stated that Australia had canceled his visa three hours before his flight to the country.

The Israeli noted that the decision of the Australian authorities demonstrates "tyranny, censorship and control." Australian Interior Minister Tony Burke, in turn, stressed that those wishing to visit Australia should apply for the right visa and come for the right reasons.

"Spreading hatred is not the best reason to come," he added.

According to the Australian Jewish Association, the cancellation of the visa reinforces deep concern in the Jewish community that the government "has not changed and has never been real," despite the terrorist attack on Bondi Beach and the belated apologies of the authorities.

The Reuters news agency reported on December 24 that the Australian authorities canceled the visa of a British citizen after he was charged with displaying a banned Nazi symbol. The Australian Interior Ministry clarified that from October to November 2025, the Briton demonstrated a swastika and professed "pro-Nazi ideology, in particular, hatred of the Jewish community" on his social networks.
