Two couriers of telephone fraudsters convicted in Kamchatka

In Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, a verdict was passed against two men who participated in telephone fraud. They helped the scammers take over 1 million rubles from the elderly.

According to the KamchatkaMedia news agency, in July 2022, the defendants joined an organized criminal group as a driver and courier. They received instructions from the organizers with addresses where to meet with the elderly and collect the money. Before that, scammers contacted pensioners and persuaded them to transfer funds allegedly to help relatives.

The victims were three people. In two episodes, the defendants partially compensated the damage.

The court sentenced one young man to three years and eight months in prison, and the other to five years. In addition, they will have to compensate the third victim.

In Primorsky Krai, a 63-year-old woman gave about 650 thousand rubles to fraudsters. The scammers communicated with the victim on behalf of the lead singer of a popular K-pop group.
