Starmer ridiculed Macron for speaking in Davos with glasses
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer ridiculed French President Emmanuel Macron for his glasses, appearing on a comedy show in London wearing aviator sunglasses. This was reported on January 27 by The Telegraph newspaper.
"Starmer made fun of Emmanuel Macron by wearing a pair of aviator sunglasses at a comedy show in London," the publication says.
According to the newspaper, the prime minister spoke at The Political Party Live event, during which he told the presenter that he would consider wearing glasses at summits. However, Starmer later abandoned this idea, adding that he needed regular glasses, otherwise he would not be able to see anything in parliament.
In addition, after the event, he posted a video on his TikTok social network account in which he puts on sunglasses and says the word "bonjour" ("hello." — Ed.). It is clarified that this was an allusion to Macron's speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
The politician also noted the account of the French leader in his publication, adding a signature: "Talk to me, Goose," which is a reference to the popular movie "Top Gun," which made aviator glasses famous.
US President Donald Trump praised Macron's sunglasses during his visit to the World Economic Forum in Davos on January 21. He also added that he really likes the French president.
On January 16, Macron appeared in sunglasses to hide his reddened right eye during a meeting at the Elysee Palace dedicated to the institutional future of New Caledonia. Earlier, he spoke to the military with a burst blood vessel in his eye. The French leader apologized for his unsightly appearance, but added that nothing serious had happened to him.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova also joked about Macron on January 22, saying that he had regained his sight under the influence of his sunglasses.
