Half of Russians decided to service cars in garage services
More than 52% of Russians surveyed service cars outside the dealer network, using the services of non-certified service stations and other workshops outside the dealer network. Experts from the online platform Uremont told Izvestia about this on January 27.
So, according to the results of a survey of more than 2 thousand respondents, currently 45% of drivers service cars at dealers, 38% at non—certified service stations, and 14% at acquaintances.
According to the company, there are currently about 130,000 car service stations in Russia, which do not yet have a single standard of services and pricing. Prices for repairs and spare parts at service stations remain a "black box" for the customer, and car owners overpay and waste time, they said.
69% of the respondents noted that they need to know the cost of the work in advance, before going to the service. 66% do not understand the pricing structure for components and work. 63% of respondents spoke about the fear of imposing services, and another 37% noted the fear of overpaying and being deceived, the study says.
"Historically, the mentality of car enthusiasts in Russia is inclined to garage maintenance, so after dealers left, many returned to the gray "garage workers". It was they who created public fear and distrust," said Alexander Petrov, Director of Partner Relations at Uremont.
Earlier, on January 15, it was reported that at the end of December 2025, an increase in demand for car service services was recorded in Russia, the total number of car arrivals in the country increased by 6% year-on-year over the last two weeks of the month. In Moscow and the region, the increase in the number of visits reached 13%.
