- Shishkarev called for assessing the development of the transport system from an economic point of view.
The development of the transport system in Russia, especially in strategic regions, should be assessed not only from a logistical point of view, but also from an economic point of view, through the prism of future payback and integrated development of territories, said Sergey Shishkarev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Delo Group. "We also need to look at the transport system from the point of view of the transport and economic balance and from the point of view of the return on investment that we will make," Shishkarev said in an interview with Rossiya 24 TV channel.
This principle underlies the proposal for the development of the Transarctic Transport Corridor (TTC), which Shishkarev submitted to the Maritime Board and the Government of the Russian Federation. The businessman stressed that such costly and promising projects require a clear understanding of the future cargo base, proven mineral reserves and the cost of creating a supporting infrastructure.
In his opinion, a comprehensive model of the region's development is needed. Shishkarev suggests applying this approach to another strategic direction, the international North—South transport corridor. He advocates the construction of a double-track railway track according to the Russian standard of 1520 mm, which, according to the entrepreneur, will increase cargo traffic to 100 million tons and ensure the sustainable development of the direction. "It pays off in terms of traffic volume," Shishkarev said.
