The lawyer named a way to avoid punishment for being late for work due to snowfall
Russians will be able to avoid punishment for potential late arrival at work caused by snowfall if they notify their boss in advance. This was announced on Tuesday, January 27, by Alexander Khaminsky, a lawyer and head of the law enforcement center in Moscow and the Moscow Region.
"Winter snowfalls often lead to the formation of collapses on the roads, obstructed public transport, as a result of which people are late for work. However, it is possible to avoid responsibility for being late in this case, since extreme weather conditions and transport collapse are often recognized as a valid reason for absence from the workplace," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
The expert, commenting on the possible consequences of the snowfall threatening the capital and its region, said that there is no clause in the Labor Code of the Russian Federation that prescribes automatic punishment for being late. In order to decide on a sanction for an untimely arrival, the employer must have an evidence base, as well as analyze the integrity of a particular employee.
The employee himself, in turn, can also prepare papers indicating that he is forced to be late. Such documents, according to Khaminsky, may include warnings from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, certificates from the transport company about schedule failures or an extract from the Hydrometeorological Center about record precipitation.
The press service of the Main Directorate (GU) of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation in the capital reported last night that a blizzard, heavy snow and icy conditions are expected in Moscow from January 27 to January 29. Representatives of the department urged drivers to significantly reduce their speed and increase their distance from the cars ahead within the specified time frame. They also advised motorists to park in safe places and avoid sudden maneuvers.
