The attackers began using a scheme they invented to deceive Russian citizens with an alleged appointment with a doctor, so they find out the personal data of the victims. This was reported by RIA Novosti on Tuesday, January 27.

So, according to the agency's investigation, telephone criminals call Russians asking them to provide them with a code that came in an SMS message, which, in turn, is allegedly required in order to secure a person's place at the doctor.

After that, the citizen who agrees to provide the relevant information is transferred to the messenger, where the scammers continue to interact with him.

Representatives of the Department for the organization of combating the illegal use of information and communication technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia together with the portal "We explain. The Russian Federation" a day earlier called on Russians who faced a leak of personal data to promptly change passwords, block cards and contact the police. They also recommended that the Russians warn their relatives about the hacking.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
