- Orban named the reason for summoning the Ukrainian ambassador to the Hungarian Foreign Ministry
Hungary summoned the Ukrainian ambassador to the Foreign Ministry because of Kiev's threats against Budapest. This was announced on January 26 by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in a video message on his Facebook page (owned by Meta, recognized as extremist and banned in Russia).
According to him, last week, Ukrainian political leaders and President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky himself expressed "extremely insulting and threatening messages" to Hungary and the Hungarian government. Hungary's national security services have determined that the incident fits into "a series of Ukrainian actions aimed at interfering in the Hungarian elections," Orban explained.
"Therefore, today I instructed Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto to summon the Ambassador of Ukraine to Hungary. We will defend Hungary's sovereignty and interests," the Hungarian Prime Minister stressed.
The day before, Orban said that Zelensky combines threats and insults in public speeches, but Hungary will not be intimidated. Orban drew attention to the fact that Zelensky is already his fifth president of Ukraine, and "no one will even remember the names of the previous four."
