Alice Weidel, co-chair of the German Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, expressed serious doubts about the effectiveness of the "green policy" pursued by the German authorities. She stated this on January 26 in an interview with Hallo Meinung.

"We are the only ones who implement a Green Policy that does not work. It is impossible to run an industrial country with the help of wind and sun. All this was offset by the import of cheap Russian gas," Weidel said.

The politician added that Germany has never been so unpopular among neighboring countries. Weidel believes that respect for the country was undermined after Germany allowed the Nord Stream gas pipeline to be blown up "right in front of its eyes" and then voted against conducting an investigation.

"Since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, of course, this has become a thing of the past — after the pipeline was blown up and we voluntarily entered into a policy of sanctions that harms ourselves. And it's all going on," Weidel said.

Earlier, on January 16, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called for the unequivocal naming of those responsible for the Nord Stream bombing, also defining the responsibility they will have to bear. According to him, the German court's ruling was made in the style of "high-profile". Peskov added that it has long been known who is guilty.
