A court in Armenia has extended the arrest of Bishop Mkrtich Proshyan, head of the Aragatsotn diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, for a month. This became known on January 26 during the court session.

Mkrtchu also lifted all restrictions, in particular on visits with loved ones. Sputnik Armenia writes that earlier the country's prosecutor's office offered to extend the arrest of the cleric for three months.

It is noted that Mkrtich is charged under the article on obstruction of the exercise of the right to vote using his official position.
