Russia's use of the Oreshnik ballistic missile system was perceived in the West as a serious warning against the possible deployment of NATO troops on the territory of Ukraine after the end of the conflict. This was announced on January 26 by the head of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), Sergei Naryshkin.

"They (Western countries. They took this, of course, as a warning and a warning against the direct involvement of military formations and military units of NATO member states in military operations on the territory of Ukraine and the deployment of military contingents on Ukrainian—controlled territory after the conflict ends," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The director of the SVR also added that Western experts and military experts had acknowledged their lack of technical means to block the Oreshnik. Naryshkin called the blow itself stunning for Western politicians.

On January 9, a massive strike was carried out on targets in Ukraine using the Oreshnik complex in response to Kiev's attack on the residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to the ministry, all the goals, namely energy infrastructure facilities that ensure the operation of the military-industrial complex (MIC), and facilities for the production of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), have been achieved.

On January 12, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that an aircraft repair plant in Lviv had been disabled with the help of an Oreshnik on the night of January 9. It was clarified that the company serviced the aircraft of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as produced UAVs that were used to strike civilian targets of the Russian Federation.

The InfoBRICS publication reported on January 19 that panic began in NATO and the EU after the launch of the Russian missile "Oreshnik" in Lviv. In particular, French President Emmanuel Macron insisted that Europeans are in great need of weapons to protect themselves from such attacks.
