Alice Weidel, co-chair of the German Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, said in an interview with Hallo Meinung on January 26 that Chancellor Friedrich Merz's policy had led to Germany losing its influence in the new world order.

"We are completely out of the game because of the current and previous governments. Interestingly, the German chancellor is talking about a new world order in which he himself no longer occupies a significant position, because it was he who led us out of this game. All our problems that weaken Germany are the result of domestic politics and political decisions," Weidel said.

She recalled that former Chancellor Angela Merkel opened the country's borders, and the current chancellor continues this policy.

"Germany is filled with millions of people who depend on our social system. Taxpayers should somehow cover this, but they are no longer able to do this, as they are losing their jobs," Weidel added.

The AfG Co-Chair noted that German companies have lost their competitiveness in international markets due to the fact that they face the highest energy prices in the world.

On January 26, the EU Council approved a complete ban on the supply of Russian liquefied natural gas from 2027. It was specified that the ban would come into force six weeks after the resolution was officially adopted. The EU stressed that a transition period will be provided for existing contracts.

On January 24, former German Chancellor Schroeder announced the loss of Europe's importance at the international level. He noted that the reason for the European Union's loss of influence was the shift in the technological and economic dynamics of the world's development from the West to the East.
