Academic programs in Moscow colleges will be updated by 100%
The educational programs at Moscow colleges have been updated by 90%, and the process will be fully completed by the beginning of the next academic year. Anastasia Rakova, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Social Development, said this in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda.
According to the deputy mayor, the colleges are actively modernizing their material and technical base. Last year, two thirds of the workshops were renovated, and by the end of 2027, the equipment will be replaced in 100% of educational institutions.
"In Moscow today, both tracks — university preparation and the path through secondary vocational education — are absolutely equivalent and provide our students with ample opportunities for a successful career start," said Rakova. She stressed that the authorities "have done a lot of work to bring the quality of college education to a new level" and make their graduates in demand in the labor market.
Work on the renovation and construction of colleges in the capital is underway together with more than 3.8 thousand partner enterprises, Rakova said. According to her, these are leading companies from the fields of industry, transport, security, trade, creative industries, etc.
"They are also interested in graduates coming to them as ready—made specialists," the deputy mayor noted. As a result of all the changes in the secondary vocational education system, 95% of children find a job after completing their college studies in the first year after graduation or during their studies.
Rakova recalled that secondary vocational education has become more accessible: in 2025, graduates of grades 9 had to take only two basic exams to enter college — Russian and mathematics. "The experiment received a great response, and this year the exams will be held in the same format," said the deputy mayor.
