A snowstorm and snow drifts can be a valid reason for not showing up for work if the emergency situation has been officially reported by the Ministry of Emergency Situations, meteorologists or road services. This was announced on January 23 by Ekaterina Stenyakina, a member of the State Duma Committee on Labor.
"If a blizzard and snow drifts do not allow you to get to your company, inform your superiors about it. If the Emergency Situations Ministry, meteorologists, and road services report a dangerous situation, the employer will not be able to count your absence as absenteeism," she told TASS.
