Russians are increasingly considering travel as an integral part of personal financial planning. This is the conclusion reached by analysts of the financial marketplace "I will choose.<url>" based on the results of a survey of 2.8 thousand residents of the country aged 18 to 60 years. The research data was reviewed on January 30 by Izvestia.

According to the study, in 2025, 68% of respondents include travel expenses in the annual budget in advance. For comparison, only 42% of the respondents did so a year earlier. Another 21% plans to travel partially, adjusting expenses over the course of the year, whereas in 2024 this share was 28%. Only 11% of the survey participants do not include travel in their financial plan, compared to 20% a year ago.

The frequency of travel is also increasing. This year, 34% of respondents plan to travel three or more times a year, 46% expect one or two trips, and 20% limit themselves to short trips without significant costs. A year earlier, 22% of respondents planned three or more trips, 48% planned one or two trips, and 30% did not consider regular trips at all.

At the same time, the average travel budget is also increasing. In 2025, Russians spend an average of 185 thousand rubles a year on travel, whereas last year this figure was 120 thousand rubles. At the same time, 41% of respondents plan to spend up to 120 thousand rubles, 37% — from 120 thousand to 250 thousand rubles, and 22% — more than 250 thousand rubles a year.

The geography of trips is increasingly shifting towards domestic tourism. In 2025, 62% of the respondents plan to travel mainly in Russia. Another 26% combine trips within the country and abroad, and only 12% focus mainly on foreign destinations. A year earlier, 48% of respondents chose domestic tourism, 32% chose the combined format, and foreign trips remained a priority for 20%. Russians name Krasnodar Territory, St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad Region and Altai among the most popular destinations in the country.

The largest proportion of actively traveling Russians live in the Central Federal District — 29% of all respondents who regularly plan trips. This is followed by the Volga Federal District with a share of 21% and the North-Western Federal District with an indicator of 17%. Siberia accounts for 14% of the audience, the southern regions — 10%, the Urals — 6%, the Far East — 3%.

The largest travel budgets are formed by representatives of highly profitable professions. Thus, among IT and telecommunications professionals, 38% plan to spend more than 250 thousand rubles a year on travel. This share is 33% among entrepreneurs and small business owners, and 29% among employees in the financial sector.

On January 25, analysts at the Tutu service reported that the Jewish Autonomous Region has become the most accessible destination for winter family travel. The average cost of round-trip tickets for a family of three is about 17 thousand rubles, and staying in a hotel for three nights will cost about 7 thousand rubles. In general, the trip will cost the family about 24 thousand rubles.
