Pensioners were reminded of the obligation to repay overpaid pensions
A pensioner may need to return part of his pension to the state in case of overpayment, if he has not promptly notified the Social Fund of Russia of a change in life circumstances. This was announced on January 26 by Oksana Krasovskaya, the leading lawyer of the EUS.
"In case of employment, expulsion from an educational institution, transfer to correspondence, the additional payment is terminated. And the pensioner is obliged to immediately inform about these circumstances," Krasovskaya told the Prime news agency.
The lawyer explained that if such data is not reported, the SFR has the right to later identify the overpayment and request a refund.
Earlier, on October 20, 2025, it was reported that pensioners are required to inform the SFR about a change of residence, employment or dismissal. This information directly affects the calculation of social and regional surcharges, including northern surcharges. In case of detection of overpayments, the Social Fund has the right to demand a refund of overpaid amounts.
