Danish MP urges Copenhagen and EU to help Canada amid US threats
On January 25, member of the Danish Parliament Pelle Dragsted called on Copenhagen and the European Union to help Canada amid threats from US President Donald Trump to impose duties against it.
"Canada has supported and continues to support Greenland and Denmark. Now Trump is threatening Canada with 100% tariffs. Denmark and the EU must do everything possible to help Canada," Dragsted wrote on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
He added that all countries threatened by the United States should respond to threats together.
On January 24, Trump announced his intention to impose 100% customs duties on Canada if Ottawa concludes a trade agreement with China. According to the American leader, China will "eat Canada alive", destroy the business in the country and the social structure.
On January 18, American political scientist Earl Rasmussen announced Trump's possible plans to annex Greenland, which could extend to Canada in the future. He noted that this would put the country in an extremely unfavorable position, surrounded on all sides by the territory of the United States.
