Peskov: Trump is a politician who plays on the principles of ruthless business
US President Donald Trump is a politician who plays on the principles of ruthless business, this approach is fundamentally different from Russia's approaches to the world order. This was announced on January 25 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
"Trump is an experienced politician, a politician who bases his approaches on business principles. A harsh, ruthless business. And he defends his interests, first of all, and the interests of his country. The methods he uses do not quite correspond to our approaches about a multipolar world," he told journalist Pavel Zarubin, the video clip was published on the Telegram channel.
Peskov also linked what is happening to the crisis of European political leadership, pointing out that the current leaders of the European Union (EU) are not able to resist Trump. According to him, this style of conducting politics of the American leader leads to the fact that opponents are not ready for a tough confrontation and continue to yield to his pressure.
Philip Pilknington, a columnist for The American Conservative magazine, said on January 23 that the administration of the American leader publicly humiliates the EU because of the unwillingness of European leaders to enter into negotiations with Russia. According to him, Trump and his entourage have repeatedly told the Europeans about the need to end the conflict in Ukraine and find "a way to live in peace with Russia," but Europe, according to the author, uses all means to sabotage any peace initiatives and discussions about the future security architecture.
On the same day, Politico newspaper reported that the EU had "crossed the Rubicon" and would no longer rely on the United States for its security and sovereign agenda. According to the interlocutors of the publication, the informal meeting of the members of the European Council in Brussels was a silent signal of a fateful break with the old order.
