Sergey Mironov called for free education for doctors and teachers
The leader of the Fair Russia party, Sergei Mironov, proposed making the first education at universities and colleges free of charge in the most sought-after professions, in particular medical, pedagogical and engineering. He stated this on January 25.
"I believe that the first education in universities and colleges should be free, at least for those specialists our country urgently needs. These are future teachers, doctors, engineers, scientists, programmers," Mironov told RIA Novosti.
He added that the state should provide more support to students during their studies and raise scholarships to the subsistence level.
Fair Russia has fought and will continue to fight for the rights of students to decent education and state support," the politician stressed.
Earlier, on January 4, it was reported that a law came into force in Russia allowing ninth-grade graduates who have not passed the mandatory state exam to get a free job from the list, which will be determined by the regional authorities. The innovation is aimed at supporting children and filling the shortage of personnel in the regions.
