Axios admitted a possible meeting between Putin and Zelensky
Washington is considering the possibility of holding a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, but additional trilateral negotiations are needed before that. This was reported on January 24 by the Axios portal with reference to a representative of the administration of the President of the United States Donald Trump.
"We are very close to a meeting between Putin and Zelensky," the source said.
He added that additional trilateral negotiations should be organized before that.
"We think we're not far from that. If we continue on our current course, we will come to this," the source told Axios.
According to the interlocutor of the portal, the recent trilateral talks between representatives of Russia, the United States and Ukraine in Abu Dhabi were "as good as [Washington] could have imagined."
Earlier in the day, it was reported that the next round of negotiations on Ukraine in Abu Dhabi could take place next week. According to sources, the meetings were "positive" and "constructive."
It was noted that the first day of negotiations proved to be the most difficult due to the discussion of territorial disputes and potential security guarantees for both sides. The meeting was the first known case when representatives of the US presidential administration simultaneously met with the delegations of Russia and Ukraine.
