Denmark urges NATO to give priority to the Arctic
Denmark has called on NATO to prioritize the Arctic region. This was announced on January 24 by Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.
"We have asked NATO to prioritize the Arctic region and have received support on this issue," she said on the Danish TV2 channel.
According to the Prime Minister, the parties will discuss the future type of such an initiative in the future.
Earlier, on January 20, it was reported that the European Union plans to include Arctic security issues in a new pan-European security strategy, which is scheduled for approval in 2026. The European Commission has stated the need to update the Arctic strategy, taking into account changes in the architecture of international security. Brussels stressed that the EU must respond in a timely manner to new challenges in the region.
