Territorial issues are the most difficult for participants in the trilateral talks between Russia, the United States and Ukraine in Abu Dhabi. This was reported on January 24 by a TASS source.

"This issue remains the most difficult," the source said.

It is noted that the withdrawal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) from the territory of Donbass is important for the Russian side. At the same time, the parties are currently considering various security parameters.

At the same time, it is expected that the second day of the negotiation process between the countries should also be held behind closed doors without media representatives.

The Russian Foreign Ministry recalled that the cessation of violations of the rights of Russian speakers and the UOC is also one of the key conditions for a settlement.

The day before, a White House official said that the first day of negotiations in Abu Dhabi had been successful. It was clarified that the new stage of negotiations indicates the resumption of efforts for a peaceful settlement after several months of suspension of the diplomatic process.

At the same time, the Reuters news agency reported that during the meeting, the parties had made some progress towards a peace agreement, while discussions were continuing on several scenarios for resolving the crisis.

Last December, Russian leader Vladimir Putin also announced that Russia would liberate Donbass and Novorossiya in any case, by military means or otherwise. He noted that Russia offered Ukraine to withdraw troops from Donbass and not to start military operations, but Kiev chose to fight.
