The State Duma proposed to oblige employers to pay taxi employees in severe frosts if they need to be present at work. This was announced on January 24 by State Duma deputy Amir Khamitov.

"In some regions, frosts below -25 degrees are common, and the road to work in such conditions can pose a direct threat to health," Khamitov told RIA Novosti.

According to him, if the employer insists on full—time work, "such requirements should be accompanied by additional guarantees, in particular, compensation for safe travel - paying for a taxi there and back."

The MP added that such an approach is fair, as it allows to distribute responsibility between the employer and the employee and reduce the risks to the health of employees.

Earlier, on January 20, it was reported that the average cost of a taxi ride in Russia in December 2025 exceeded 50 rubles per kilometer for the first time. It was noted that the lowest prices were recorded in Ingushetia, the Lipetsk Region and Chechnya, while the most expensive taxis were in the Nenets and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Districts, as well as in Chukotka.
