Tuva and Altai became leaders in the number of deaths in road accidents in 2025
In 2025, the most deaths as a result of road accidents were registered in Tuva, Altai and the Orel region. This became known on January 24 from the data of the Unified Interdepartmental Information and Statistical System (EMISS).
So, in Tuva over the past year, there were 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people as a result of car accidents. In Altai, this figure was 22 people, in the Orel region — 20.1.
In total, about 13.9 thousand people died in car accidents in Russia in 2025. In terms of this value, there are 9.5 deaths per 100,000 population.
Earlier that day, a bill was submitted to the State Duma, which provides for a change in the procedure for determining accident-prone sections of highways that are the site of an accident concentration. Separately, it is proposed to legislate the provision that highway owners should approve/supplement programs of priority measures aimed at eliminating these accident concentrations within 30 days (instead of the actual maximum period of 1.5 years) from the moment of identifying accident-prone areas.
