U.S. representatives came to Moscow for talks to personally tell the Russian leadership about their contacts with Ukrainians and Europeans. Alexey Polishchuk, Director of the Second CIS Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, told about this on January 24.
"As you know, American representatives specially came to Moscow on January 22-23 to personally inform the Russian leadership about the results of their contacts with Ukrainians and Europeans and jointly determine the parameters of further actions with us," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
The diplomat noted that the meeting was useful for both sides.
Earlier, on January 22, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting in the Kremlin with an American delegation led by Special envoy of the President of the United States Steve Witkoff. The meeting took place in the Presidential Executive Office in the Kremlin's Senate Palace. On the same day, it became known that Witkoff and American businessman Jared Kushner arrived in Moscow for talks with Putin.
Russian Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow highly appreciated Washington's efforts in the negotiation process on Ukraine, as well as the results achieved.
