There is a tendency for Europe and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to break up, but at the moment this is hardly possible. This opinion was expressed by political scientist Alexander Asafov on Friday, January 23.

"The fact that Europe wants to spend less money, and Zelensky wants to receive more, is already a certain discord. The fact that Trump has actually privatized the entire agenda for a possible peace agreement, and Zelensky is actively involved in this, despite the promises made to the coalition of willing parties, is also a fact," he said in an interview with Lenta.Ru Noting that Zelensky enjoys any relationship with any Western institution, be it the European Union or the Peace Council. The UN is a way to personally monetize and gain new resources.

At the same time, he believes that public "trajectory distortions" in Zelensky's position are possible, but it is currently impossible to definitively sever relations with Europe.

Earlier, on January 22, Zelensky said that Europe cannot independently ensure its security, RT reports.

Zelensky drew attention to the crisis around Greenland, noting that most European leaders do not know how to respond to it. He noted that the world's attention is focused on this conflict, but most European leaders do not know what to do about it, and are just waiting for the US interest in this topic to dry up. 360.ru .

The Ukrainian president also criticized the military capabilities of the Europeans, in particular the fact of sending 40 soldiers to Greenland, questioning the meaning of such a symbolic step and its message.

The day before, US President Donald Trump, speaking in Davos, said that Europe was going in the wrong direction. The American leader noted that some places in Europe have become unrecognizable. In his opinion, in recent decades, Washington and European capitals have developed a misconception about development based on three principles: ever-increasing government spending, uncontrolled mass migration and unlimited imports.
