Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni announced that she had asked US President Donald Trump to review the format of the "Peace Council" for the reconstruction and management of the Gaza Strip. She made such a statement on January 23 at a press conference after talks with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Rome, ANSA news agency reports.

"I said that for us there are objective constitutional problems in the structure of this initiative, and also asked for the opportunity to review this format in order to meet the needs of not only Italy, but also other European countries. We must try to do this job," she is quoted as saying in the publication.
