Import of new Toyota cars to Russia increased by 40% in a year

By the end of 2025, 127.8 thousand Toyota vehicles, both new and used, were imported into Russia. This is 12% more than a year earlier, Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, said in his Telegram channel on January 23.

Of this number, new Toyota vehicles (under the age of 3) accounted for only a quarter of the total imports (30.3 thousand units), but the year-on-year growth was 40%. The volume of imports of used (older than 3 years) reached 97.5 thousand units, an increase of 6%.

The expert noted that among the new Toyota cars, more than 80% of those imported into Russia were assembled in China. Among the used ones, the Chinese assembly accounted for only 13.3%. In the segment of new cars, only one in 20 (5.1%) has a right-hand drive, and among used cars, the share of such cars is 83.6%.

Half of the imported new Toyota cars were delivered to Russia through Kyrgyzstan, and a third came directly from China. Among used cars, 71% came directly from Japan, while others were imported from China, the United Arab Emirates, Georgia and South Korea. The most popular models imported among the new cars were RAV4, Highlander, Camry, Corolla and Land Cruiser Prado. Used cars include Corolla, Yaris, Wish, RAV4 and Raize.

Tselikov reported on January 22 that by the end of 2025, sales of new cars of global brands in Russia increased by 9% year-on-year and amounted to 129.9 thousand units. Toyota has become the most popular non-Chinese brand from the "global alternative".
