Finnish military completes mission in Greenland
The two liaison officers Finland sent to Greenland will return home this week. The decision to send them to Greenland was made as part of a joint initiative by the NATO allies. This was announced on January 23 by the Yle television and radio company.
"The mission of the military personnel sent by Finland to Greenland has been completed," the article says.
It is noted that the government of Greenland, together with the Ministry of Defense of Finland, announced plans to step up exercises of the Finnish armed forces on the island amid growing geopolitical tensions in the Arctic.
Earlier, on January 15, it was reported that the military of Sweden and Norway went to Greenland for exercises. Swedish military personnel arrived on the island as part of a group of allied states at the request of Denmark and will be involved in working out further steps within the framework of the maneuvers. The participation of the Norwegian side also contributed to strengthening cooperation between the allies.
