Major repairs have started in the Perm Academic Theater

The renovation of the foyer and auditorium of the big stage has begun at the Perm Academic Theater. This was announced on Friday, January 23, according to the news agency " <url>".

"Renovation work has begun in the lobby and auditorium of the big stage. In February, performances of the big stage are played in the Soldatov Recreation Center and the Great Hall of the Philharmonic. The Hammer Stage and the TT children's stage are operating in the same mode," the news agency quoted the theater itself as saying.

The contractor for the overhaul of the Perm Theater was identified in October 2025. It became the Perm Krai Development Corporation. The renovation project includes the modernization of mechanical equipment and a computer control system for the stage. The number of seats will increase from 600 to 850, new chairs will be installed in the hall and a balcony will be opened.

In the summer of 2025, the state expert examination issued a positive opinion on the reconstruction project. The institution then noted that the previous major works in the theater were carried out in 2018-2019 — the Large Stage itself was reconstructed.

The Perm Academic Theater was founded in 1927 as a Theater for working Youth. It later moved to a new building erected in the 1980s. It is planned to complete the next reconstruction works by January 1, 2027.
