Over the past day, 167 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 21 people were killed and 200 injured. 19 of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to Izvestia on January 23 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
As a result of 43 accidents, 23 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 20 outside their area of operation, two pedestrians were killed, 41 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Eight underage pedestrians were among the injured, seven of them were injured while crossing the roadway in designated areas.
18 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which five people were killed, and another 25 road users, including one child, required medical assistance. Half of the bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by drivers of other vehicles.
So, in the Primorsky Territory, in the evening, on 56 km of the Razdolnoye — Khasan regional highway, a 40-year-old truck driver from China, due to an incorrectly chosen trajectory, allowed the semi-trailer of his truck to drive into the oncoming lane, where it collided with a bus driven by a 60-year-old driver from Russia, who was following the route. The driver and two passengers of the bus were killed in the accident, five more passengers of the bus were hospitalized with injuries of varying severity.
The State Traffic Inspectorate urged truck drivers to strictly observe traffic regulations and driving discipline. Drivers should correctly assess its inertia depending on speed and congestion, dimensions, condition and width of the roadway, terrain and the possibility of skidding. And also take into account the density of traffic flow, dimensions and speed in your own, and most importantly — in oncoming lanes.
"Do not create accidents on the road. In addition, 13 accidents involving minors were registered on Russian roads over the past day, in which 15 young road users, including five passengers, were injured. There are no dead children.
On the eve of the weekend, the State Traffic Inspectorate drew the attention of motorists that in winter they should be extremely careful when driving a car: refrain from sudden thoughtless maneuvers and lane changes, observe the interval and distance between vehicles, and choose the speed limit taking into account weather conditions.
When planning trips, the State Traffic Inspectorate recommended that drivers and passengers always monitor the weather forecast, as well as media reports from traffic closures or restrictions. In case of a negative weather forecast, it is recommended to refrain from traveling long distances until the road conditions improve, and to use public transport services in urban conditions.
The day before, it was reported that the State Traffic Inspectorate would hold a three-day preventive event "Drunk driver" in Moscow. The raid will take place at the end of this week, from January 23 to January 25. The traffic police called on road users not to remain indifferent to the problem of drunk driving and promptly inform the police at 102 or 112 about drivers who behave inappropriately on the road and pose a danger to themselves and others.
