The situation around Greenland has led to the fact that NATO is already in intensive care. This was announced by the Politico newspaper on January 23.

"The alliance is essentially a promise of protection. If the promise of protection does not look convincing, NATO's power weakens. US statements on (Greenland. — ed.) the alliance has already been placed in intensive care," the publication says.

Against this background, the US statements about Greenland have already caused serious doubts among the allies. European Commissioner for Defense and Space Andrews Kubilius told Politico that a possible military takeover of Greenland by the United States would mean the end of the North Atlantic Alliance. According to him, such a scenario would undermine the very foundation of NATO.

Earlier, on January 22, Politico stated that the policy of US President Donald Trump towards Greenland raises serious concerns among the leaders of the European Union (EU). European officials also believe that the situation with Greenland is "shaping a new reality," as now "even US allies may be at risk of manipulation."
