During the meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, American representatives discussed the latter's contacts with Ukraine and Europe. This was announced on January 23 by the assistant to the Russian leader, Yuri Ushakov.

He noted that the parties agreed that the territorial issue must be resolved in order to resolve the Ukrainian conflict. Ushakov also said that Moscow would send a delegation to the UAE.
