Residents of Greenland are massively stocking up on generators due to fears of a US "invasion", despite assurances from American leader Donald Trump to the contrary. The Financial Times (FT) newspaper wrote about this on January 23.

The article says that Greenlanders are rushing to buy generators before they are sold out. The newspaper also asked one of the customers about the reasons for the purchase.

"Just in case,— Kirsten Petersen said.

According to her, the generator will help her save food in case the United States does invade the island.

The day before, Trump said he was ready to cooperate with NATO on Greenland's security issues. He added that after the negotiations held at the World Economic Forum in Davos, the Greenland deal would give Washington greater authority on the island.
