Two Taganrog residents suspected of kidnapping and extortion of 1 million rubles were detained in the Rostov region. This was reported on January 23 in the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Rostov region.

"The defendants, two relatives aged 22 and 27, had information that their friends, who are brothers to each other, had a large amount of money, and decided to organize their abduction and extort funds," the agency said in a publication on the MAX messenger.

According to the investigation, the suspects took the victims by car to a deserted place, where, threatening them with weapons, they beat them and demanded money.

It is clarified that during searches at the places of residence, a traumatic pistol, cartridges, phones and laptops were seized, a criminal case was opened under Part 2 of Article 126 of the Criminal Code ("Kidnapping") and part 2 of Article 163 of the Criminal Code ("Extortion"), and a preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen for the suspects.

Earlier, on January 13, it was reported that Kuzbass police officers detained a fraudulent courier involved in the theft of over 6 million rubles from residents of several regions of Russia. He turned out to be an 18-year-old resident of the city of Tynda, Amur region.
