The Ukrainian energy sector is facing a crisis due to the termination of Western aid.
Kiev can no longer rely on Western loans and outdated equipment to restore the power grid. This was announced on January 23 by Russian military expert Alexei Leonkov.
"Previously, transformers and other Soviet-made stations from Eastern European countries were sent to Ukraine, and in these countries they were already replaced with European equipment, but this year there are practically no such opportunities. Therefore, when these powerful substations, transformer stations, and thermal power plants collapse, this will lead to the fact that the repair fund, even if it still existed, would not be able to cope with such consequences. More precisely, it is already clear that he is not coping," the RIA Novosti expert explained.
According to him, Kiev had previously restored the equipment's operability "including through loans they received from NATO countries and technical assistance."
Earlier, on January 22, it was reported that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine called on citizens to prepare a stock of long-term storage products, drinking and industrial water for 3-5 days, pack a suitcase of basic necessities with documents, a first-aid kit, warm clothes, heating equipment and cash, as well as check the technical condition of transport and take care of pets. The ministry stressed that the measures are necessary against the background of possible interruptions in heat and energy supply related to the deterioration of the situation in the country's energy sector.
