The director of the management company of a house in Obninsk, where a pensioner who later died was scalded with boiling water, was arrested for two months. This was reported on January 22 by a correspondent of Izvestia.

The man will remain in custody until March 20. He pleaded not guilty and asked the court to impose a non-custodial measure of restraint on him.

On January 12, the Investigative Committee of Russia reported that an elderly man died in the Kaluga region after being burned while taking a shower due to a sudden burst of boiling water. A criminal case was initiated under Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Provision of services that do not meet safety requirements").

On January 20, the head of the city, Stefan Perevalov, noted that in Obninsk only one appeal was received to the hospital due to burns received from too hot tap water, no mass complaints were recorded.
