- The Liberal Democratic Party proposed to introduce an amnesty for previously imported mining equipment
LDPR party leader Leonid Slutsky proposed introducing an amnesty for previously imported mining equipment. He stated this on January 22 during the first political crypto forum "LDPR. Legislative regulation of cryptocurrencies and mining".
According to Slutsky, this measure will expand the legalization of the crypto industry and will not allow miners to remain in the shadows, fearing responsibility for using equipment that has not yet been entered into the relevant registers of the Federal Tax Service.
"According to data from the middle of last year, more than one thousand representatives of the mining industry applied for and were included in special registers of the Federal Tax Service, which is about a third of all entrepreneurs and companies engaged in such activities. One of the obstacles remains the presence of Russian miners with equipment that was previously imported with incorrectly issued documents. We proposed to introduce an amnesty for previously imported equipment if the miner declared its availability and applied for inclusion in the register. This will allow putting most of the industry on legal rails," Slutsky said.
The chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party stressed that the party has included all proposals on the regulation and development of the crypto industry in the program "Ten FOR the Liberal Democratic Party in the Russian crypto industry": 10 key topics for a comprehensive dialogue with market participants, relevant departments, and experts who are potential tracks for lawmaking.
Cryptoforum "LDPR. Legislative regulation of cryptocurrencies and mining" became the first large-scale Russian platform for discussing the problems and prospects of the field of cryptocurrencies and mining. The event brought together government representatives, politicians, key market players, relevant specialists and opinion leaders on one platform.
Nikolai Shulginov, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Energy, said on January 21 that illegal mining of cryptocurrencies damages the Russian economy by almost 20 billion rubles a year. According to him, illegal mining leads to a shortage of power, a decrease in the quality of electricity, an increase in the load on the power grid and the inability to connect social facilities and new housing.
