Trump announced negotiations on "full access" of the United States to Greenland
The United States is negotiating to gain "full access" to Greenland. This was announced on January 22 by the American President Donald Trump.
"Negotiations are indeed underway on the details [of the purchase of Greenland], but in fact it is full access. There are no restrictions, there are no time limits," Trump said in an interview with Fox Business.
He reiterated that part of the US Golden Dome missile defense system will be located in Greenland.
On January 21, the US President made a statement that a very productive meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte had formed the basis for a future agreement on Greenland and, in fact, the entire Arctic region. Trump noted that those responsible for the negotiations will report directly to the American leader himself.
On the same day, Greenland's Minister of Fisheries, Hunting and Agriculture, Peter Borg, urged residents to stock up on food for five days. The authorities offer to receive information via radio, which is powered by solar panels. In addition, residents of Greenland were reminded of the importance of emergency phone numbers.
