A resident of Ussuriysk is awaiting trial for the deaths of two children in a fire

In Ussuriysk (Primorsky Krai), the investigation of the criminal case on the death of two small children in a fire has been completed. This is reported by the regional prosecutor's office.

The person involved in the case is the 29-year-old mother of the deceased children. She is accused of causing death by negligence (Part 3 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and causing serious harm to health by negligence (part 1 of Article 118 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

The fire occurred on the evening of October 31, 2025 in an apartment building on Polushkina Street. According to the investigation, the woman, who was under the influence of drugs, left her three children unattended at home. Because of the prank of the eldest child, a three-year-old boy, the sofa caught fire. Rescuers broke down the door and took the children outside, but they could not save the six-month-old boy and the two-year-old girl. The eldest boy was hospitalized in extremely serious condition.

Currently, the investigation of the criminal case has been completed, writes IA PrimaMedia. The materials were submitted to the Ussuriysky District Court for consideration on the merits.

Earlier it was reported that a criminal case was also opened on the fact of the fire under Part 3 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Negligence that negligently caused the death of two persons"). During the prosecutor's inspection, it turned out that despite the information about family problems and signs of a socially dangerous situation, there was no proper control over the patronage of young children by the Oktyabrskaya Central District Hospital.

At the same time, the prosecutor's office revealed violations in the work of the school, which was attended by another child, a 10-year-old boy. He did not live with his family and was not injured in the fire. The agency believes that the school did not find out in time exactly how the child lives, and accordingly did not inform the authorized authorities for his placement in custody.
