Four cubs were rescued in one of the districts of the Pskov region
In the Pskov region, four cubs, aged 7-10 days, were found in the Bezhanitsky district. They were taken to the Orphan Bear Rescue Center.
According to the Pskov News feed with reference to the Center, the story of the cubs' rescue is unusual: they were found by people driving along a forest road near a large settlement. They accidentally scared off the bear, after which they promptly contacted the state inspector. The cubs were quickly taken from the shelter and transported to a warm place.
Experts said that the bear did not live in a den, but on a temporary bed. This is surprising, as bears usually take a careful approach to building a place to hibernate before they have offspring. Why in this case the predator chose the border of the settlement for the rookery remains unclear. Experts do not rule out that even before giving birth, someone scared her off and she left her shelter.
Three boys and one girl are among the rescued cubs. Their eyes and ears are still closed. At the time of admission to the Center, they weighed about 500 grams. The cubs were fed every 1.5 hours, on demand.
Specialists are forced to stay close to the cubs all the time, as health problems may appear in the first month of adaptation. Support is provided by experts from the WNHospital Wildlife Hospital.
Earlier in January, in the Komsomolsk district of the Khabarovsk Territory, motorists noticed an emaciated tiger cub near the road near the village of Selikhino and the village of Yagodny. The inspectors who arrived at the scene found that the tiger cub was about one year old. He was in an extremely weakened state. Now the tiger cub and the tigress are in a rehabilitation center. After providing first aid, specialists will decide on their further maintenance. It is possible that they will be returned to the wild.
