Fraudsters are preparing mass attacks on owners of suburban plots in Russia using the database of horticultural associations (SNT). This was announced on January 22 by the specialists of the Smart Business Alert service of the company "ESA PRO".

Analysts have discovered the downloading of data on 10 thousand Russian farming co-ops, which is about 9-10% of their total number. The information contains the names, addresses, INN, phone numbers and e-mail of the partnerships. More than 90% of email addresses are hosted on public email services, which increases the risk of their compromise.

"The scammers chose a fairly convenient period — winter and spring, especially immediately after the New Year holidays, when many owners visit and use their summer cottages less often," explained Sergey Trukhachev, head of the SBA service, in an interview with Lenta.Ru .

Experts note that "abandoned" co-op mailboxes can be re-registered by intruders, and they will look legitimate in search results. This creates conditions for mailing lists, substitution of banking details and other fraud scenarios.

Experts recommend that land owners always double-check information, even if it comes from official-looking addresses.
