Russian grandmaster Kramnik named the alleged cause of Naroditsky's death.
On January 22, Russian grandmaster Vladimir Kramnik named the drugs he took as the suspected cause of death of American chess player Daniel Naroditsky.
"A friend wrote to me: I'm watching his stream and there's clearly something wrong with him. Well, as he wrote to me, he was under the influence of some drugs. <...> The slogan of FIDE is that we are all one family, but for some reason the people who were with him did nothing, they did not call a doctor and something happened. <...> I am the only one who, in general,"He asked for [help]," Kramnik said in a conversation with Izvestia.
Kramnik added that Naroditsky used computer prompts during the game, and this practice turned out to be widespread. Despite this, the International Chess Federation (FIDE) decided to hide this fact.
The main negative attitude towards Kramnik comes from the fact that almost all chess media are in contractual financial relations with the Chess platform, which fully owns the information agenda in the chess world.
"There is a clear paragraph about not saying anything that could harm the image of Chess. <...> That is, for example, I publish important documents that refute many things, but they are simply blocked, meaning it is impossible to get through, although this evidence is direct," the Russian chess player emphasized.
Kramnik wrote on social media that Naroditsky had been experiencing health problems for a long time, and called himself the only person who "shouted about Daniel's obvious long-term problems." According to him, at the same time, Naroditsky's friends tried to hide the chess player's problems.
On October 22, FIDE President Arkady Dvorkovich announced that the federation's ethics and discipline committee would review Kramnik's statements about Naroditsky's death. He also confirmed that the committee will take all appropriate measures in case of disrespect in the chess community.
FIDE CEO Emil Sutovsky said on the same day that Vladimir Kramnik's reaction to Daniel Naroditsky's death was outrageous and shameful. On October 20, the Federation announced Naroditsky's death. He represented the USA at the World Team Championship in 2015 and finished first in the national championship in 2019.
