Candidate of Medical Sciences, doctor, clinical pharmacologist Tatiana Molostova told how to raise the level of iron in the body.

In an interview with Radio 1 on Wednesday, January 21, she explained that a combination of red meat and foods with vitamin C, such as sauerkraut, helps to make up for iron deficiency, while compote does not bring vitamin benefits. According to her, vitamin D is a key element in winter, since from October to April its natural synthesis practically does not occur due to a lack of ultraviolet light.

She noted that vitamin D comes from food in minimal amounts, so it is better to select the preventive dosage after analysis so that the intake is not formal. According to the expert, iron and zinc, which are best absorbed from animal products, are also important for immune support. The iron in red meat is in heme form, and the combination of meat with acidic foods stimulates digestion and increases the absorption of trace elements.

The nutritionist added that zinc is found not only in oysters, but also in red meat, pumpkin seeds, legumes and nuts. She stressed that vitamins from compote are practically not absorbed due to heat treatment, whereas natural fruit juice can be a more useful alternative.

Nutritionist Elena Solomatina told on January 20 that fat contains selenium and vitamin D, which are useful for the nervous, immune and cardiovascular systems. According to the expert, you should consume a small amount of fat with whole grain bread, spices and non-starchy vegetables, writes RT.

In November last year, psychologist Polina Soboleva attributed protein and iron deficiency to possible causes of constant hunger. According to her, the constant desire to eat may indicate a deficiency of protein, fiber, healthy fats and vitamins D and B, as well as minerals such as magnesium and iron. The lack of these substances causes the body to require more food, notes 360.ru .

Earlier, internist and immunologist Irina Yartseva said that in the autumn and winter period, people are always deficient in vitamins and trace elements, this is due to insufficient consumption of fruits and vegetables, as well as a decrease in daylight hours. Vitamin D deficiency is especially noticeable due to a decrease in the amount of sunlight. Yartseva noted that this fact affects fatigue and the quality of body recovery, NSN notes.

Prior to this, Denis Banny, an expert doctor at the Hemotest laboratory, listed the symptoms of iron deficiency in the body. According to him, as the deficiency worsens, fatigue and weakness appear, and during physical activity a person may experience shortness of breath and a rapid pulse.
